A letter

harrisonsaito6

Dear younger self,

You didn’t have the ideal childhood so you tried to make up for it in your adolescence. But really that was just me pushing people away. Most of all, you. If I kept that up, there won't be the bright future that you deserve.

Here, I’m sitting with you now to remind how tender and gentle childhood is, compared to adult life. Open up the heart you closed. Loosen down those shoulders. And breathe.

You and I, we are both the same, although a decade or so apart!

I’m sorry I hated and cursed how weak you were. I didn’t know any better. Each passing year, I’m drawn back to what you loved. The magical safe realm of your own imagination. The world of Ghibli, Pokemon and Disney. Playing RPG games or with plush toys.

You're clearer to me now more than ever. I see you, standing in the corner. Eyes wandering around. I’ll unapologetically make you proud some day.
