Acceptance + understanding as an investment (don't invalidate just because you don't get it)

Here's some quick scenarios...

- You are a teacher for primary school kids and you feel/get angry at a rowdy child who keeps distracting and disrupting the class.

- A homeless person is erratically yelling and jerking around violently on the floor they are sitting on and you feel uncomfortable.

- At a bar, there is someone sitting in a distant and you feel uncomfortable based off body language, eye contact, facial expression or general vibe

To me, the similarity between these scenarios is that you have formed an assumption, although calculated, and subsequently allowed your emotions to supplement this thought. Thereby, cementing this habit and mindset that this person/situation is RUINING YOUR PEACE OF MIND. We all want peace of mind. We all want freedom.

Yet... Like my previous post, it is in this PAUSE BEFORE A REACTION, where we can invest some time and conscious effort. I say this is an investment because initially it is uncertain, emotionally and mentally draining and of course, time taking. If you UNDERSTAND why these people are the way they are, even a better understanding, you begin to accept why and who they are. You may stop generalising and making assumptions. I believe everyone has a point in their life where their assumption/judgement has been wrong... About a person, thing, place, moment, service anything... Things such as circumstances, relativity... It all changes. So too are people. Your DEFAULT REACTION/DEFENCE MECHANISM also could do with updating.

Again, I say this practice is an investment because as you understand and accept... your emotional discomfort and that toll it takes on your mind, body and soul will eventually diminish. Maybe it will never be zero, but that's better than where it was, right?

DON'T INVALIDATE OTHER PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THEM. This applies to yourself too :)
