"Worrying doesn't empty the problems of tomorrow, it empties the strength of today." I like quotes as they often draw a spotlight into an aspect of life which I've overlooked. In most parts, quotes are generalising but they can offer a good opportunity to reflect on yourself in potentially a new angle.
As conditioned humans, a product of society, I strongly believe every human being worries. Some more than others, but we all get anxious about something at some point in our lives. Personally, to overcome my fears, I am actively working on getting to know myself. Why am I scared of something? Why am I worried? Why do I feel anxious? What is the different types of anxiety/worries? I then try to think about STEP BY STEP methods to address these concerns. I think of the time I have to address these concerns too. Life doesn't usually go to plan exactly but having something to FALL BACK ON through planning can alleviate anxiety. In many cases, anxiety/worries have precedence. We get worried because in the past, we may have been nonchalant and it has bitten us. Once bitten, twice careful, right?
We should try to identify what we have control over, and what we don't. Again. We must know what we have control over and what we don't. Practicing the pause and reflecting in the mind in a safe space, to understand what do we have control over. What do we not. Breaking it down in your head so that it makes sense is so important.
Feelings of anxiety is valid. Feeling scared is valid. You are okay to feel the way you are. Sweeping it under the rug or finding an unhealthy, unsustainable means to "make it go away" will not help you long term. But we see many success stories where people take one leap of courage, and that was what made the difference. That was the first step to make them braver in a specific field. For social anxiety, everyone I know is MORE WORRIED ABOUT THEMSELVES THAN OTHERS. Even if you make the most humiliating public stunt, society and individuals within it are too focused on themselves to really remember. Noone knows the answers to life, nor the answers to all their problems. As much as you are in your head, so too are so many other people.
So if you recognise that you have worries and concerns, and feel anxious, understand and appreciate that so do others. Don't make it more difficult for others. Society is also a projection of yourself.
