Elevators and the stomach

Growth is a strange and confusing concept.
From a distance, growth seems obviously about progression,
But from up close, it seems to also be about regression.
This changing of lenses, like an optometrist’s visit, can blur your eyes and your mind.
Time and tough experiences will tell you, growth is a combination of both lenses.
Navigation is a difficult endeavour, especially in unchartered territories.
Even with a gleaming beacon up ahead, it’s hard to tell whether it’s the beacon or moonshine.
People turn to other forms of moonshine, as the ones in bottles and glasses seem to be all be guiders.
In reality, we are just trying to fill up our bellies, the centre of our own existence.
There’s a rush, similar to the rollercoaster.
Like an elevator falling kilometres and kilometres into the invisible depths of the universe.
You’re in for a ride, in this pitch black elevator, relying not on sight or hearing but the senses in the pits of your stomach.
This unsettling feeling is masked by adrenaline and confuses you on who you are and what you are meant to do.
There is no emergency button here.
The friends that take turn shouting rounds, life is similar.
It all balances out at the end of the day.
Life is a circle or maybe an oscillating wave, depending on perspective.
We need to go up and we also need to go down.
In 2023, there is very little day to day spaces,
That are more awkward than an elevator with a few strangers, in for a long ride of a few seconds.
We should only have three levels in the lift.
Love, forgive and faith.
We’re just human, nothing more.
