People enjoy feeling unusual feelings, feelings which we aren’t sure if it’s okay to be feeling. Hysteria, sometimes outcomes of suppression or relentless discipline. The forbidden fruit? Desperation, an urge that must be quenched. These are the subtle but not so subtle feelings which ‘Elvis’ (2022) explores almost immediately. It’s this relationship with the crowd, Elvis’s first ‘true’ connection in his world that set precedence for the rest of his life. Uncertain certainty.
What do people get hysterical about now? Identities, fluidity and the unfree free?
Sincerity is an interesting pursuit. To be too sincere, you may be misguided. Elvis was disciplined for his passion, as we all are once we know what we want. Discipline, passion and love can all blend together and is powerful long term fuel. Elvis got up many times, for his love: the crowd and moreover, his love for what he has created. Is detachment possible? Our greatest strengths are our greatest weaknesses.
‘Elvis’ (2022) reaffirmed to me that the mindfulness for balance is always the first answer. Calmness and peace. Excitement is a powerful fuel but is it long term? Obviously, the same can be said about anger, negative emotions can also be powerful but is it long term? If you don’t find meaningful interactions early, you will be far more likely to create meaningless interactions, veiled under the pretense of ‘meaningful interactions’. We all long for meaningful interactions but without tasting the real deal, fake ones may taste real due to wishful thinking. What is real and what is not?
Don’t be taken hold of by life. There’s a great big world out there but we get so focused on what is right in front of us, dazzling and gleaming with all its effects. Go simple. There are too may ‘artificials’ in today’s society. But such is the course of where our world is heading. Be a truth seeker who can live amongst the false.
