Everything has a price

We all pay for things with something, not just with a $.
Think about all the things you do on a day to day or weekly or monthly or even yearly basis. Everything we put our effort/attention to, we are doing so because we are fundamentally wanting to put an end to a 'fear'.
- We are scared of boredom so we pay for entertainment
- We don't want to be unhealthy so we pay for gym facilities
- We are scared of doing our own statements so we pay an accountant
- We are scared of looking into ourselves and dealing with things to work on, so we pay for it with time, with quick reliefs
- We are scared of being alone so we put time into friends and family
- We are scared of being heartless so we pay the time or money to do good
- We are scared of not living up to our potential so we pay the time to do the hard work and consistency
This sounds incredibly nihilistic, when we look at things so objectively. But I believe it's a temporary lens we often should put on while reflecting/introspecting. Are you happy with what you are spending X for Y?
INVERSELY, we must pay our dues. But we must be careful with how we do it. This concept I find incredibly paradoxical but very important to understand. As humans, we feel that wave of appreciation and communal love when we see kind gestures. We see the person taking the time out of their day to speak to the homeless person. We see kind videos online of people rescuing animals out of dangerous situations. We too, must pay our dues. Do acts of kindness. The feelings of fulfilment and satisfaction with life is second to none. This seems increasingly difficult as we live online, away from the present moment. Pay your dues. Pay it in time, with genuine love and care. These things cannot be bought by the $ (if you can, it's not real). The best gifts are those that money within this capitalistic society, cannot buy.
What are you living for?
