Importance of full days off

We should all understand routine is important. But what about routines which involve bits of work scattered throughout the day? Like personal trainers, a few clients a day scattered throughout the 7 days of the week. I believe full days off are important where you can truly disconnect from responsibilities and have a ‘you’ day. Okay, so we understand that full days off are important. Days off can be spent in so many ways; for many young people it means time to party, see friends… many of which is unhealthy for the next day. Hangover, scat etc. But what about a day at the gym, a day at the nail salon, a day getting a haircut? Inherently, it is YOUR day off and it is up to you what you do with it… but I’m starting to believe that these days off should have a substantial amount of time dedicated to reflect… to allow for positive input. It’s not humanly possible to juggle so many things without it taking a toll. These tolls can be so subtle you may not realise.

I’m going to branch off here… We should find a way to initiate self-discussion. Where we don’t find answers off the Internet or a motivational post off anywhere or anyone. We need to “date” ourselves in our time off. We need to understand why we feel the way we feel, why do we do the things we do. This is self-discussion. How do you initiate this? It is a process you must find yourself. A process of trial and error. For me, it started off as talking to others. When I speak to others, I formed opinions of my own, realised things about myself. But I can’t always be talking to others. I need to learn to be alone regularly, to be independent. I often write notes on my phone, little dot points of key ideas. I begun making these notes more articulate and more personalised. Digging deeper. And I realised this is my way of talking to myself. Understanding who I am, unlearning things that don’t matter and things that do matter to me. Being honest with myself. The biggest danger for me at the moment, is lying to yourself without realising.
