Quick dopamine

harrisonsaito6

We all need dopamine to feel satisfaction and a sense of fulfilment. In this day of instant gratification where accessibility has been turbocharged, so too has accessibility to dopamine.

Quick and easy access to dopamine can be in the shapes of scrolling through social media posts and seeing something amusing. But I think we are becoming more aware of that now. The deeper complexity of this is how we find 'answers' and 'salvations' to our sense of self and our life direction. Quick jabs of 'motivation' through speeches, podcasts, quotes, music, shows and how they fundamentally shape who we are and what we believe is... is the new danger. Do we question the integrity of the message or the relayer, do we question the message itself? Today, I see more people buying into inspiration so quickly. Is this inspiration or desperation?

While evolution may change humans, in the current state of humanity, I don't believe humans are able to adapt at such lightning speeds of technological and societal advancements. I do not advocate going off grid and taking the extreme of completely rejecting technology. Again, this middle path of using it to your needs.

In teaching and education, there is often talks of what do children truly need? I think the same question must be asked upon by adults. What do we really need? Do we really need to be feel inspired and motivated all the time? No we don't. We enjoy happy moments because there is the contrast and felt, real experiences of negative moments.
