Time and commitments

Poem about time and commitments through the extended metaphor of home grown plants. Background song: 'Leaves from the vine'

"There are three plants in my garden.

One vines its way around, patiently telling me what it needs.

The second is my oldest, it just weathers through anything.

The last is my favourite, although I try to love all three equally.

This plant is sensitive, and needs constant nurturing and attention.

On tough days, I sometimes think if I should just pick one and focus on it.

I am quite time poor.

Other times, I reassure myself,

“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

Today, I don’t have three plants, I have one garden."
