Timing

As a martial artist, I can appreciate that fitness, speed, power and mobility is very important and should be trained. As a martial artist of some experience, I can definitely appreciate that all of the above can be destroyed by someone who has understood timing.

Digressing from martial arts, timing is a powerful attribute to have in all aspects of life. A question to myself here: is timing opportunistic? Is timing greedy? Timing entries into the stock/property market, timing into going to talk to someone for the first time, timing into posting on social media. That is probably a completely different discussion matter as it’s related to others beyond just yourself. But that is life, you are a part of a society of others.

Aside from too much of the ethical principles of timing, timing is about anticipation. Like all things it must be practised very regularly. Of course it becomes more autonomous eventually. Timing is about how you position yourself in a matrix of others. Whether it be people or other variables such as risk. Timing is about evaluation. Timing is about being courageous and having faith in YOUR abilities and research conducted. Above all, timing is about ACTION. Often, timing can be down to the microsecond. You miss that microsecond, it is a failed timing.

And back to martial arts, you miss that micro-microsecond… You could very well be knocked out.

Something to consider… As timing is opportunistic and it is placing you at the heart of all matters. Let’s be mindful to remain kind. As I write this, I’m still struggling to find the balance in care for myself and care for others. As with investments, you are potentially profiting from another person’s loss. To what extent is that okay? Is that okay? Where do you draw the line? A discussion for another time…?

Timing OUT is just as important as timing IN. I have an issue with myself that I thought I found the right timing and I stay there for too long. Emotions, opportunities, moments… Everything is temporary. We all feel emotions. We are ONLY human. I mentioned above about courage with your timing in and subsequently committing to the engagement. Timing your outs and COMMITTING to your OUT as well is JUST as important.
