You must lose

We often hear that the greatest enemy is yourself. To be specific, I believe the greatest enemy are the voices in your head that then make you feel certain things/emotions within your body. This can transpire in forms of anxiety/depression/insecurities etc.

Voices seem incessant and powerful at the same time. This is quite a difficult obstacle as often it's one or the other. A nagging, barrage of small needles vs. one enormous tidal wave. Voices within our heads are the combination of both seemingly, fast and strong.

This is where we must train the mind. The mind is conditioned and is personalised to you. It is an amalgamation of your experiences, your decision-making, your discipline and actions. Left untrained and left to hedonism, we will be wild. Literally. And when life starts throwing curveballs, your voices will come out. Whispering that you cannot do this. Rightfully so! Because you don't have the experiences/the precedents to tell you, "no, you can." You've been taking the easier path, you've been doing what you want for a long time. That is who you have been.

This CANNOT be done quickly. No 4 week transformations, no 10 day guaranteed wins. That is all HOLLOW victories. They are not victories because you will be the one losing at the end of the day. And maybe, that is how you will learn? But most likely, you will change ships to what you think is the winning ship. Because that is what you're used to do.

Change the paradigms. Change the pattern. Remove the noise by taking up what you don't want to do. The voices will not be controlled until you learn to struggle. Teeth grinded, tears and sweat pouring, you learn to PHYSICALLY and then MENTALLY push past boundaries. Emphasis on the PHYSICAL. After that, you must do it OUTSIDE OF YOUR OWN PACE. I believe this is important as it incrementally expands your capacity. Life throws curveballs, you do not choose and say "please don't throw those kind of balls, I'm not ready." Life is not like that. You need to be able to ADAPT to different paces. Step by step.

To not overcomplicate, I believe my key take aways are:

- We must lose. We must fail. Over and over and over again.

- Then, we must keep trying, persisting. Deeper, not wider. Over and over. Through this process, we begin to give LESS POWER to the voices. They begin to shut up, you can begin to tell that these voices do not have any real meaning. Be the GATEKEEPER of your mind.

- When you do win, it is how you treat yourself. Be grateful, do not let it get to your head. Take on more challenges, fail more. This is an ongoing process. The day you put a finish line, that will be your chapter finished. It never ends, and that is the beauty. The beauty of life is that it never ends, we are ALWAYS living.

- "We need to learn how to be where are feet are," a beautiful quote I came across, eloquently and succinctly captured about the power of now. Don't overcomplicate it, be present, stay organic, don't give power to the unnecessary voices in your head.
